I'm Angie M., the breeder behind Weaver Dairy Goldens located in Bessemer City, NC. Our mission is to raise healthy, happy, adorable Golden Retriever puppies and connect loving families with their new best friends! We work hard so our puppies can leave our home with confidence, ready to take on the world with their new family!
Q. & A. with Angie
Why did you start breeding?
We got our first golden in 2006 and fell in love with the breed. We wanted to allow our son to experience puppies and then we fell in love with the process and all the wonderful people we meet.
What makes your program special?
Our puppies are raised using Puppy Culture Socialization. They are independent and self assured when they leave us at 8 weeks. We introduce the crate and begin potty training. The pups are given time alone, away from mom and littermates, to make the adjustment to their new homes less traumatic. The pups are weaned onto a raw diet to give them the best possible nutrition as they are growing so fast at the beginning of their lives. We provide 5 pounds of a commercial, nutritionally balanced raw diet with each puppy to be used during the transition to their new diet.
When the pups leave us, we apply a mild essential oil blend to their tummy to assist with car sickness. We have not had a puppy get sick in the car in several years since beginning this practice. We have had pups ride to Texas, Alabama, New York, Michigan, etc. with no car sickness. We also have a gentle essential oil spray available for $5 per bottle (the cost of the supplies) which greatly assists during stressful times such as car rides, crate training, loud thunderstorms, etc. This blend will calm an anxious dog in less than 5 minutes.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include dark golden and golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Crate training started today. In addition, each pup had snuggle time with me (yay!), time away from littermates, and we worked on the sit and come commands. Each pup also went potty in the grass outside, a great start to house training. So far, so good!

About Luna
Luna is a medium dark reddish golden with thinner, shorter coat similar to a Field Golden. She has a clear golden retriever genetic panel and has passed her OFA heart, eyes, and hips. She is unable to pass the OFA elbows due to a hairline fracture which has healed but is not genetic. She is a very laid back and snuggly dog who also enjoys playing fetch and chasing squirrels. She loves to sleep in bed with us and snuggle on the couch.
Parent health testing
Weaver Dairy Goldens reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Golden Retrievers.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Ichthyosis, Golden Retriever Type 1, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), PRA, Golden Retriever 2, PRA, Golden Retriever 1
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

We had a fantastic experience with Angie as our breeder. She was incredibly helpful and supportive throughout the entire process. Luna, the mama dog, is one of the most beautiful and sweet-tempered dogs I’ve ever met, and her good nature definitely shines through in her pups.
Our boy Monkey is in a perpetual good mood—athletic, smart, and just a joy to be around. His genetic panel came back completely clean, and he’s already showing how trainable he is—he can sit, lay down, stay, come when called, and even use a pee pad if needed. I really believe Angie’s early intervention training with the puppies played a big role in how responsive and eager to learn he is.
Monkey is a high-energy dog who thrives with playtime, walks, and mental stimulation. He loves wind sprints, belly rubs, and exchanging kisses. He’s not very food driven and would honestly pick words of affirmation over a treat any day. We couldn’t be happier.
