Northwest Cedar Cedar is the kind of dog families hope for when they say they want a true companion. She is protective without being anxious, patient without being passive, and she gently teaches her babies boundaries and good manners. Watching her raise a litter is a beautiful thing—she nurtures confidence while encouraging kindness and self-control. Our breeding dogs have completed both orthopedic and genetic health screening so we can reduce the risk of inherited problems in our puppies. They have: • Normal OFA patella results – their kneecaps are stable and healthy, lowering the risk of painful knee issues that are common in small breeds. • Normal OFA cardiac exams – no heart murmurs or structural heart defects were found at the time of evaluation. • Normal eye exams – screened for inherited eye disease that can affect vision over time. • Clear DNA results through Embark for all major Cairn Terrier–related genetic conditions, including: • Globoid C e l l Leukodystrophy (Krabbe Disease) • Craniomandibular Osteopathy (CMO) • Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency • Congenital Macrothrombocytopenia • Factor IX Deficiency (Hemophilia B) In plain terms, this means our dogs are not affected by these conditions and are not expected to pass them on to their puppies. These tests allow us to make thoughtful breeding decisions and give families confidence that their puppy has the best possible start toward a long, healthy life.
