Meet the breeder

I'm Whitney C., the breeder behind Wexford Creek Aussies, LLC located in Harpers Ferry, IA. We are a small family farm located in the beautiful rolling bluffs of northeast Iowa. I'm a state licensed Veterinary Technician, and my husband is a Lineman. Together we have been raising registered, health tested, Australian Shepherds since 2012. Please visit our website for for UTD information.

Q. & A. with Whitney

  • Why did you start breeding?

While I was in Vet Tech school, I became fascinated with genetics, doing projects on health testing, breed specific conditions, etc. I also spent time working with shelter pets. I wanted to take my veterinary experience to provide education and be able to produce the best possible dogs I could and not contribute to the shelter population. I enjoy helping others learn about and better the breed.
  • What makes your program special?

We are a small family program, not a kennel. I run a farm with other livestock and have young children who help with the dogs everyday. Dogs must have excellent temperaments and pass all genetic health testing in order to be part of our family. Our pups are exposed to as many sights and sounds as possible using the Puppy Culture program, and we take them to visit local schools and nursing homes.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Whitney was amazing from day one. I’d never bought a pup through an actual breeder before and she was helpful from the moment we started talking. We have already started talking about getting another pup from her in the future, because Reba is amazing.
