Meet the breeder

I'm Laura W., the breeder behind Whitehaven Farm Shelties located in Lake Cumberland Area, KY. Our dogs are our beloved companions. We care deeply about this breed and are proud to be responsible breeders. Our hope is to prepare each of our puppies with thoughtful socialization so they have the best foundation to seamlessly transition into their new homes.

Q. & A. with Laura

  • Why did you start breeding?

Shetland Sheepdogs have been my love and passion from childhood. All throughout or marriage we have had Shelties and they have lived alongside us and our children. So, it was only natural that when we became empty nesters, we wanted to breed Shelties so that other families could have these wonderful dogs to raise up with their family. We seek to place our pups in loving homes, where they will be well engaged in activates and taken to their full potential.
  • What makes your program special?

At Whitehaven Farm we only breed to improve the breed and produce excellent quality Dogs that can excel in many different areas such as the Show ring, agility and service dogs. We breed to get the best temperament and loving dispositions. Our dog Music is an AKC registered Therapy dog and has performed over 100 visits for Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital and Hospice of Lake Cumberland in her first year of service. She has her Trick Dog Novice, level 2 obedience and is an excellent companion in our home. Our dogs are raised around small children and other animals. They are acclimated to both busy work environments and the farm.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include blue merle white and tan and sable and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
