Meet the breeder

I'm Michelle H., the breeder behind Wings N Whistles located in Monticello, AR. We began raising, training and breeding over 28 years ago when we welcomed our first Labrador Retriever into our family. Our love and passion for the breed has only grown stronger through the years. We take pride in our Labradors and in helping others with theirs! We would love to help you find your next fur baby and/or hunting partner!

Q. & A. with Michelle

  • Why did you start breeding?

I had a good friend while growing up that had a Labrador. I fell in love with that Lab and with Labradors in general at an early age and because of this have always had a passion for sharing the breed with others. Their dispositions and innate drive to retrieve have always been intriguing for me and I feel they are a dog that everyone in the family can enjoy.
  • What makes your program special?

I feel that my animal science degree, as well as my experience with the breed, definitely helps our program to stand out. We have four children ranging in age from 10-24 and they have all been involved in helping with our breeding and training operations at some point in their lives. It’s a family affair for us. We all enjoy working with and interacting with the dogs and pride ourselves on improving upon the breed. Our youngest daughter has earned a trick dog title with one of our Labs and we are all active in Hunt Tests.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Michelle was so easy to work with and was quick to respond every time I sent her a message. She took the time to learn more about me and my family to make sure Echo was going to be a perfect fit for us. Her attention to detail to make sure everything went smoothly in getting Echo to us made it so easy for us. She and her transporter checked in with us periodically to let us know where they were and how our new girl was doing during travel. Once Echo arrived, it was clear how well she was taken care of and the love and attention she was use to receiving from everyone at Wings N Whistles. I would 100% get another dog from Michelle and would recommend her to anyone. We are just so thrilled with everything and our new girl, Echo.
