I'm Anne H., the breeder behind Winona’s Legacy located in Mahtomedi, MN. I have 20 years of experience as a dog trainer and behavior consultant. Why did you start breeding?
As a trainer and behavior consultant, I could see that the real issue was not training or behavior modification. What we need to do is breed dogs that fit in easily and comfortably with our 21st-century lifestyle. So I decided I wanted to help families and dogs by breeding great family dogs.What makes your program special?
Like many great breeders, I breed carefully for health and temperament. But our socialization and puppy development program takes the cake! We follow puppy culture, Susane Clothier, Avidog Puppy, BadAss Breeder, and the latest neuroscience to set your puppy up to be the happiest, most relaxed, comfortable dog they can be. And we use litter training to build the foundations for house training.What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our Shihpoo puppies are tiny size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Shihpoo puppies include black and white and black. Shih Tzu puppies include sable, black and tan, silver gold and white, brindle and white, black gold and white, black gold and silver, and brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Anne
Anne has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
Anne partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 6 weeks old.
“Families do get to choose their own puppy. First any breeder holdbacks (dogs I am keeping) and then existing families, and then new families in order of deposits received. If there are any health or behavior concerns with a puppy I will not make them available until we have a better understanding of the puppies needs. Other than that the family can pick from all available puppies. And they are all wonderful and different. ”

Program update on 25 May •…We have open eyes! Ears are just starting to open. Open eyes means it’s time to go outside. Dogs need to see things at far, mid and near distances to properly develop their vision.

Litter update on 23 May •…Our potty habit building has begun! And so far it is going great. They will still need to be house trained with vigilance and frequent trips outside once they go home. But we can set them up for the best success possible.

About Zaley
Zaley is a sweet, spunky, healthy and very loving Shih Tzu. She is in many ways a large dog in a small package. She can hike all weekend, and keep up with you on your life. She loves to learn and do tricks and is titled in agility.

Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
