I'm Jana D., the breeder behind Winzig Ranch located in Cadillac, MI. I'm a mom of 2 young men, a devoted partner, and a Dachshund breeder since 2012. What began as one litter became a lifelong passion. I'm committed to raising healthy, well-socialized puppies with honesty, transparency, and support for every family.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I never set out to become a breeder. After my first litter, I fell in love with every part of the journey - from birth to watching each puppy join a loving family. That passion inspired me to continue learning, expand my program, and dedicate myself to raising healthy, well-socialized Dachshunds with love, transparency, and care.

  • What makes your program special?

    My time is valuable because my puppies are my priority. The countless hours I dedicate to each litter reflect my commitment to raising healthy, well-adjusted companions - not just selling puppies. I believe in 100% transparency throughout the entire process. I am always happy to answer questions, share updates, and provide the information families need to feel confident in their decision.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include piebald, cream, red, fawn (isabella), brindle, blue and cream, blue and tan, chocolate and cream, black and cream, chocolate and tan, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Jana

Jana has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Jana partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“We take great pride in our puppies and making sure they have amazing homes. We usually allow pairings after 2 weeks of age, they've had their first deworming, and their eyes are open.”

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $1,500 - $2,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Our prices include 1st & 2st rounds of distemper/parvo shots, 2 NeoPar shots, dewormings every 2 weeks, microchipping & registration, Vet wellness exam, a well informed puppy packet, socialization, and pad training. I do not take deposits until puppies are 2-3 weeks of age. All deposits include the $20 microchip registration fee. All deposits are NON-refundable.”

Jana may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Vet Wellness Exam

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), Generalized

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    Jana was great to work with. She was awesome about keeping up with photo and video updates while we were waiting to get our baby.     Jana is my favorite breeder ever! We love our miniature dachshund puppy, Olive! She is adjusting really well and it’s obvious she was loved in Jana’s care! The vet records and packet on recommended care for Olive was beyond helpful, when newly caring for Olive and starting her at our vet in NY. Jana brought Olive to the airport for us so we could bring her home without driving to Michigan and it was overall an easy, good experience. She arranged for all of the proper vet documentation also. She has answered our questions and been extremely helpful. Our mini sausage is very healthy and we love her so much. If/when we get another doxie we are ABSOLUTELY going back to Jana at Winzig Ranch in Michigan.

    I began my search for Zoe on Gooddog. Com. While scrolling through all the beautiful puppies, Mouse popped up! I fell in love with her eyes!
