I'm Karen L., the breeder behind Woodrose Farm located in Dillwyn, VA. Woodrose Farm is a small kennel. My goal and passion is to breed beautiful, healthy Cardigans with a stable, happy temperament and herding ability.
Q. & A. with Karen
Why did you start breeding?
I’ve been involved in dogs since 1973, starting with Dobermans. After taking some time off I got back seriously into showing and breeding in 1992, this time with Weimaraners. Having a young daughter coming to shows with me though, I needed to look for a smaller dog that would be easy and manageable for her. I found the perfect breed, Cardigans. They have now taken over my heart and my home.
What makes your program special?
My main interest is conformation showing, but lately, I have become obsessed with herding. I have cleared space on my property and bought sheep to allow my dogs to herd. Foremost, these Corgis are a part of my family and I am looking to find the best possible home for them.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Karen was totally correct when she told us that Gabby, a nine year old pup, would be a great fit for us. Gabby is adapting rapidly to our home and seems to be a happy, sweet dog. She is well under way with her training of her new mom and dad. Karen, thank you so much for matching us with Gabby!

Karen was wonderful to work with. We were bringing home an adult female, and Karen provided lots of information about Rowan and her likes and dislikes. We traveled from Georgia to Virginia, and could not leave until after I got off work. This meant we did not get to our hotel until about midnight. Karen offered to drive to our hotel 1.5 hours from her house, to save us driving time. She went above and beyond what we expected. She has checked in with us a few times in the 3 weeks we have had Rowan.
Rowan is a perfect friend for my younger fixed male, Frankie!
