I'm Rachel A., the breeder behind Wyches Bayou Dachshunds located in Monterey, LA. Our primary sire is from multi-generational show lines without skipping generations for AKC champion and grand champions. Our dogs live in-home, NOT in outside kennels separate from us, so our litters are limited. All dogs in our home are tested through Embark, and links are provided.
Q. & A. with Rachel
Why did you start breeding?
My husband and I started Wyches Bayou Farm through a love of the dachshund breed and trial and error. We wanted to provide show quality dachshunds to show homes, and to provide quality pets to owners who will love them. We want to educate buyers and better the breed.
What makes your program special?
We found that DNA testing from local breeders before purchasing was rare, and after finding several prospective females that had poor DNA results or conformation after purchasing, we finally found reputable breeders who were willing to provide DNA results on parents.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include piebald, red, chocolate, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
