I'm Regina S., the breeder behind Wyndeway Shetland Sheepdogs located in Alexandria Bay, NY. I'm a retired sheltie breeder of the AKC Breeder of Merit program. I have always been committed to health screening & registering puppies. We bred lifelong companions. Our puppies were raised in loving home and not a kennel.
Q. & A. with Regina
Why did you start breeding?
A very close friend introduced me to my first Sheltie, Jade Isles Distant Thunder (Houdini) whom I showed in conformation in Canada to get his Canadian CH and a High in Trial in a CD class. From showing Shelties, I began breeding and then on to judging. I have loved this wonderful breed for over 30 years.
What makes your program special?
I find genetics very interesting & take great joy in researching pedigrees of prospective matches to ensure the integrity of the breed. I never line bred but chose matches that continued to ensure the integrity of the breed. I enjoy how genetics comes into play with coat color determination throughout the pedigree. I've used DNA testing to ensure the integrity of my dogs & their progeny.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
