I'm Erin S., the breeder behind WZ Kennels located in Winamac, IN. I am an ethical, home-based breeder of quality Dachshunds. I specialize in producing pups of great health, temperament, structure, and longevity. I am happy to tell you more about what life is like with one of my pups and how they will not only enhance your daily life, but exceed your expectations!

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I believe that purposeful and ethical breeding is so important for the healthy preservation of purebred dogs. I started my breeding program to help ensure the future of these breeds and to improve upon traits with each generation. It is such an honor to preserve the line of these incredible dogs all the while creating companionship for others!

  • What makes your program special?

    My dogs are an integral part of my family and daily life. This creates the ideal environment for puppies. From birth, they grow in a secure, loving environment where they know that they are loved and that they have a purpose. I value the connections I form with my buyers and love to continue to watch my puppies grow up! I love every one of my puppies and keeping in contact with their families.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our Dachshund puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our Dachshund puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our Dachshund puppies include cream, red, black, chocolate, fawn (isabella), brindle, fawn (isabella) and tan, fawn (isabella) and cream, chocolate and tan, chocolate and cream, blue and tan, blue and cream, black and tan, black and cream, and dapple. Yorkshire Terrier puppies are parti. Great Dane puppies include mantle merle and merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Erin

Erin has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $1,500 - $2,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

"My puppies go home with a three year health guarantee, age appropriate vaccines with vet exams, a microchip with lifetime enrollment, a large puppy pack, and a spay/neuter contract. They are also guaranteed parasite free. Our retainers are non refundable unless there is a proven emergency situation that warrants a refund."

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Dentition

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Full Embark Panel, PRA, Cone-Rod Dystrophy 1 (PRA-crd1)

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    We feel so incredibly lucky to have found Erin. From the first message, we knew she was different. Her puppy application was very thoughtful and thorough because she truly cares about where her puppies go. While we waited for Reef, she sent regular photos and updates, which meant the world to us. She even created a private Facebook group where all of us puppy parents stay connected like family. When the North American winter storm changed our pickup plans, Erin kindly kept Reef an extra week and later drove through snow to bring him safely to Chicago airport.     Truthfully, I was looking for a specific breed within a certain mileage from where I live and who had great reviews from past placed homes, and WZ was the one. If everyone else is having great experiences, that’s who I want to work with. Sure enough it has been and still is. Erin is very communicative and shared a lot of photos and videos as the puppies were groaning before they could be picked up. She went above and beyond for me and my special situation and she didn’t have to. Not only does she produce healthy, great natured animals, she herself is a phenomenal person. I felt like I lucked out by having two amazing babies and a new friend.
