I'm Kathy C., the breeder behind Yadkin Valley Dachshunds located in East Bend, NC. We breed high-quality puppies. We love what we do and are committed to producing well-bred, healthy puppies for loving homes. Our hope is to prepare each of our puppies with thoughtful socialization so they have the best foundation to seamlessly transition into their new homes.
Q. & A. with Kathy
Why did you start breeding?
We had our very first Miniature Dachshund and we decided we wanted another, so we looked for a stud to breed with our female and we kept one of her puppies. We went from 1 to 7 within a few years because we love them so much!
What makes your program special?
We want to make each family's experience as easy and comfortable as possible. We send weekly photos and videos of your puppy so you can see how much they change from week to week.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies include wirehaired and smooth coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include piebald, red, black, wild boar and tan, chocolate and tan, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Hello everyone! I am sending this message to go over a few things in preparation for your babies joining your families soon!
They are currently eating Purina One Healthy Puppy formula. They can eat it dry, however, sometimes they eat it better with a little warm water added to it😉 I put food out in a bowl for them 3x a day, but they eat more in the morning and evening, so as you see fit, you can probably cut down to 2 feedings a day shortly after you take them home.
They are used to washable pee pads and are using them pretty well, but sometimes still miss the pee pad. If you see them getting ready to squat or circling around to do #2, I would just kindly move them to the pee pad. If you choose to use disposable pee pads, just be prepared, puppies sometimes use them as something to chew on 😜 If you are going to transition them to using the bathroom outside, just be careful of where you are taking them. If you live somewhere that has shared outdoor space with other dogs, I recommend waiting until your puppy has had all 4 of their DHPP vaccinations, as they are at risk of picking up bacteria and disease off the ground from unvaccinated dogs.
As a reminder, they had their first DHPP vaccine and their first dewormer at 6 weeks, so most vets recommend scheduling the 2nd one 3-4 weeks after and so on for #3 and #4 and then they can get their rabies vaccine at 16 weeks.
There is a vaccine called the Leptospirosis vaccine that some vets will try to recommend at some point. I advise you to do your research before agreeing to this vaccine as it has been known to affect Dachshunds and other small breeds in a more negative side effect way.
The puppies are very familiar with a puppy playpen and have recently been introduced to a crate. Just understand that it will be a big adjustment for them to go from sleeping with each other to sleeping by themselves. Please be patient with them❤️
If you still have a final payment to make on your puppy, I will be sending the payment requests with the due date being your scheduled pick-up day. You can pay it anytime between receipt of the request and pickup. Final payment must be made through Good Dog.
As always, if you have any questions, please reach out, and I will be sending their 7 week old pics tomorrow 😊

Kathy is a great breeder. We found Huckleberry on her website when he was just 5 days old and reserved him immediately. Kathy sent us weekly updates with pictures and videos, which made us feel involved in our puppy's life before we even met him.
She is always ready to answer questions, and it’s clear that she loves and cares for all her puppies. When we picked up Huckleberry, we were happy to meet his mom, Daphne. The whole experience felt like family, and we strongly recommend Kathy from Yadkin Valley Dachshunds. We love our baby Huckleberry and are grateful to have found such a trustworthy breeder.

From start to finish, Kathy was fantastic. I had never bought a dog from an actual breeder before and she helped me every step of the way. She was prompt in answering every single question I had and made the process a breeze! My pup arrived safe, happy, well-cared for, and loved. Our time together has been unmatched and I am so thankful for Kathy and the time and effort she puts into each and every one of her litters!

I was looking for a very specific look and size. Kathy answered every question promptly, sent pics and videos consistantly. She was clearly looking for homes for her puppies, not just buyers. Sally is delightful - healthy, full of personality, and affectionate.

My husband and I were very pleased we found Kathy as a breeder of miniature dachshunds, especially the wire haired miniature dachshund. Kathy was great in communicating with me about Teddy, before we made the decision on getting him. She patiently answered my many questions about the parents of the litter and about the puppy we were interested in. When we finally decided to get Teddy, Kathy regularly kept us up to date on Teddy’s progress and sent us many photos during the weeks before we picked our puppy up. She immediately communicated with me when I left her messages with questions about the puppy. Teddy is everything Kathy said he would be: healthy, cute and lovable.
