I'm Krystal G., the breeder behind Zahara Border Collies located in Opelousas, LA. We offer well-rounded, healthy, Med-drive Border Collie puppies who will excel in any adventure with their new family! Our dogs are intelligent, loving, and athletic, and they produce puppies who will thrive in an active lifestyle. We're passionate about these dogs and are careful to breed and raise our pups with only the best policies.

Why did you start breeding?
We always had dogs in our home when I was a child. One dog inparticular was a border collie x golden retriever named Leada. She was an amazing dog and my best friend growing up. When I was 20 I found a puppy online who, aside from color, looked similar. She was a border collie. I named her Zahara and she proved to have many of the same personality traits Leada had. I knew after a few years that I wanted to provide other families with border collies who could double as both your family best friend and competitive sport partner.What makes your program special?
My breeding program stands out among the crowd by providing proof of activities done with puppies, such as Puppy Culture activities, deworming, shots. I share it all on our social medias! I also use the Volhard Test to help match my families with the puppy who would be best for them! I don't place my puppies based on color, but I do take it into consideration when possible.What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include blue merle, white and blue merle, and white ticked. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Krystal has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Price
Puppy prices include a $150 non-refundable deposit and between $800 - $1,350 final payment, before taxes & fees.
“The price includes first round of vaccinations, deworming, health guarantee, early Puppy Culture socialization, Volhard Personality/Temperament Testing, and limited AKC registration (non-breeding). Deposits are required one week after litter birth. All of our puppies are the same price regardless of color or gender. Overall litter prices will vary depending on parents and their achievements.”

This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. About Zodiak
Zodiak is a male Border Collie almost 6 years old. Carefully selected as a great representative of his breed, Krystal decided to make him part of their program. Krystal has passed Good Dog’s screening process, which involved a review of their breeding practices, environment, and the mental and physical health of their dogs.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Congenital Deafness (BAER, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

Krystal is an excellent breeder that is truly passionate about breeding healthy pups! Duke is easily the best puppy I’ve ever raised and at 13 weeks he is an absolute rockstar.
