I'm Travis R., the breeder behind 4Ransom Ranch located in Lewis, IA. Hello we’re a small Iowa family that loves border collies. We started in 2021 with a herding dam. Now we have expanded into the show world. We own the one and only sable grand champion Happenstance break the bank (wage). OFA’s and extensive health testing are done.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    My father in law breeding champion field trial labs.

  • What makes your program special?

    It’s a family program. Our kids help my wife and I out a lot. As well as my brother and close friends. Everyone loves our dogs and likes to help. We have invested in amazing bloodlines and it shows off.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies include smooth and rough coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include tri-color, black and white, sable, and white and blue. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Getting a puppy from Travis

Travis has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Travis partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Price

Puppy prices include a $600 non-refundable deposit that secures a specific puppy. The remaining $400 - $1,400 is due before pickup, plus applicable taxes and fees.

“Puppies will come fully caught up on vaccines, vet checked, AKC registration, parents are DNA tested and hips/elbows/eyes checked, copy of pedigree, puppy starter kit, custom 4ransom blanket and full history of bloodline. Deposit or if puppies are available just show up.”

Travis may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • DNA Disease Panel

    I reached out to 4 Ransom Ranch to after I saw the little female puppy that caught my interest. He responded quickly back to me and answered my questions. We then had a video chat next day and I was able to see the puppy. I ended up purchasing the puppy and meeting Travis and his family and picking up my puppy. Very nice people that take care of their pups. Had a small care package they gave me when I picked up the puppy. Also had vaccine records and the dates they wormed the puppies. Made it home with puppy, and she ate and drank well right away. Also potty training has been very easy. Puppy warmed up instantly to me and is very smart and has settled right into her new home. Overall the whole process was a great experience and I recommend 4 Ransom Ranch to get a puppy from!
