Meet the breeder

I'm Ellen D., the breeder behind Abounding Poodles located in Jacksonville, AL. I am a Preservation Breeder of Toy Poodles - as Toy Poodles depart from the standard due to bad breeding, the emergence of undesirable traits, & the popularity of designer dogs, my aim is to produce Toy Poodles as they were originally intended to be - beautiful, healthy, sweet, and intelligent.

Q. & A. with Ellen

  • Why did you start breeding?

Breeding and winning in the show rings we have been competing for over 20 yrs. I had bad allergies and Toy Poodles suited me well. I have been in love with this breed ever since my first one in 1985 because they are incredibly intelligent, beautiful, loyal, and affectionate. There is never a day when they wake up in a bad mood - they are always happy, wagging their tails, and so eager to please.
  • What makes your program special?

We believe that if you want a poodle, it should be a POODLE as it is intended to be. No puppy born is a “mishap” - each breeding is studied and calculated to bring the best outcome so that each generation exceeds the previous in quality, health, & a sweet disposition. We study pedigrees on both sides up to 4-5 generations to ensure compatibility and optimal results through selective breeding.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are toy size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include apricot, black, blue, cafe au lait, cream, red, silver, silver-beige, and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
