I'm Ali L., the breeder behind Furry Godmother Pups located in Plain City, UT. My goal is to improve the Miniature Longhair Dachshund breed through temperament pairing, health/genetic testing, and crucially: AKC Registration. We see our doxies as part of our family, and I aim to offer healthy, quality, and genetically diverse true Mini-Doxies to new families!

  • Why did you start breeding?

    Growing up watching the Westminster Dog/Agility Show sparked my interest in breeding. My first venture was with my Shetland Sheepdog, Gracie, the "Furry Godmother," in 2014.I loved every minute of her breeding journey, but with 2 small children, I knew that Sheltie's weren't for me. I had always loved doxies and decided that when she died, I would continue my breeding journey with Mini-Dachshunds!

  • What makes your program special?

    At Furry Godmother Pups, we ensure our miniature pups are well-socialized before leaving our home. Exposing them to various situations prepares them for any environment. We treat each puppy as a beloved family member, prioritizing happiness and social development. Our goal is to give them the best start in life and find homes that suit them perfectly, ensuring a smooth and joyful transition.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include piebald, fawn (isabella) and cream, chocolate and tan, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Ali

Ali has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Ali partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“As a prospective buyer, we consider your preferences when selecting a new addition to your family. If the specific puppy you wish to reserve aligns with your desires, we will gladly facilitate that match. The puppies will be listed as available around 3 to 4 weeks of age, allowing us to evaluate their personalities and ensure you have a clear understanding of your potential companion before you fall in love.”

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $2,000 - $5,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Price includes Embark DNA testing, 2 rounds of vaccines, deworming, health guarantee and puppy-pack. AKC registration is an additional $500 fee. Negotiations for breeding rights is case by case. Deposit is the same price regardless of puppy size, color and markings. It will hold your specific puppy for you, and will go towards the final price of your dog. The deposit is non-refundable.”

Contract & health guarantee

Ali may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Ali offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don't hesitate to reach out to Ali directly.

  • Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Full Embark Panel, DNA Profile, DNA Disease Panel, DNA Coat/Trait Panel, Chondrodystrophy and IVDD Risk (CDDY-IVDD)
