I'm Jeri B., the breeder behind Allegro Cardigans located in Arvada, CO. We're dedicated to the "spirited and lively" Cardigan Welsh Corgi! Our focus is on supporting the breed, and purebred dogs in general, through careful breeding intended to preserve, protect, and advance the Cardigans that we know and love. Dogs we have bred compete in obedience, herding, agility, conformation, and the all-important couch surfing! We stay up-to-date on the newest in genetic health testing to produce the healthiest companions we believe we can.
Q. & A. with Jeri
Why did you start breeding?
I got into breeding very slowly. :-) At first a pet owner, eventually I ended up with a dog that her breeder thought should be shown. Eventually I had my first AKC champion, but was not interested in breeding until a friend gave me a chance with a very nice girl. That girl, Lizzie, became my foundation dog and is behind everything I have today.
What makes your program special?
I am a preservation breeder of Cardigan Welsh Corgis. I have over 20 years of knowledge, dedication, and experience with the breed and with dog training in general, to help guide my puppy buyers to the right puppy for their home and support them in having the best relationship with their dog that they can. I do extensive research and evaluation of existing and emerging health testing methods, and donate DNA at my own cost to assist emerging studies on canine genetic health. I use the Puppy Culture protocol to raise litters, always in my home, and I stand behind my puppies for life.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
