I'm Paula F., the breeder behind Bainwood Collies located in Greer, SC. Hello, my sister, Donna Pack and I are a small hobby program of preservation breeders, and therefore we strive to purposely breed our collies, first for ourselves, beauty, loving temperaments, and soundness. As a Collie Club of America member, our goal anytime we breed is to rise to the standard and ethics of our National Breed Club. As a member of the Collie Health Foundation, we test our Collies for the appropriate health issues so we can feel secure in knowing our collies will have a better chance to have long healthy lives. In particular, we always have our puppies’ eyes checked for Collie Eye Anomaly by a Board Certified Ophthalmologist.
Q. & A. with Paula
Why did you start breeding?
I began to enter the world of dog shows and the love of the collie back in the early 1970's. I joined the Greenville Kennel Club and the Collie Club of America. I met many well-respected breeders and mentors to guide me to finding the best collies to show.I dropped out of the sport to marry and raise my family, and in 2009, I re-entered the sport again and now have numerous Champions both purchased and home-bred.
What makes your program special?
My breeding program is special because I do not breed many litters, but when I breed it is primarily for myself to strive to get that collie puppy that I know will shine in the show ring and be a beautiful representative of the breed standard. I cannot keep every puppy, so I offer mine to loving families that have been closely screened and whom I know will make this puppy a forever family member.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
