I'm Heather S., the breeder behind Beltane Bonnies located in Union Grove, AL. My name is Heather Selens, owner and founder of Beltane Bonnies in Union Grove AL just south of Huntsville. We started our kennel to insure not only strong show bloodline and conformation but to also promote strong, confident, and loving companions for future families.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    Our family moved from Florida to Alabama to buy a farm for my horses. We have a love and passion for animals on our farm and came in contact with a local breeder that agreed to be my mentor for raising AKC Miniature Poodles. She helped me find quality dogs to start my program and by doing so put me in contact with amazing women that run top kennels. I have made it my mission that our kennel will uphold this high standards raising our own pups.

  • What makes your program special?

    We are a small cottage industry in this market, so we will devote our families time, effort, and love into raising top quality pups. We raise these puppies in our home to get continual attention and support.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies include miniature and moyen sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include apricot and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Heather

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $1,500 - $2,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Full Embark Panel

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    Heather was so pleasant to work with from the very beginning. She is professional, knowledgeable and made the process fun. Heather keeps the puppies for 10 weeks instead of eight. Initially, I was disappointed, but I've come to understand how important those two weeks were to stay with their mom and the litter mates under Heather's care and training. Heather got the puppies accustomed to being groomed and introduced house training, halter and leash work, and crate. This has made for such a smooth transition. She kept the puppy families updated individually and as a group. The photos and videos Heather sent were not only fun but informative. The litter was so healthy and confident under Heather and Kenneth’s care. The "matching" process was an easy conversation with a friend, not an interrogation. I believe I chose the right breeder and the right puppy. If I'm looking for another miniature poodle in the future, I'll be back!
