I'm Kristine S., the breeder behind Best Friend Aussies located in Penrose, CO. At Best Friend Aussies, we embrace a distinctive breeding philosophy. We believe that puppies should keep their natural tails and that our breeding dogs deserve a life outside of kennels. This is why we allow our puppies to maintain their beautiful tails, and our dogs flourish in a healthy pack under the gentle leadership of Rowan. Our dogs and puppies (when old enough) enjoy free range on our hobby farm, which includes a pond with a dock, diverse farm animals, orchards and gardens. We focus on fostering our puppies' gut health to establish robust immune systems early, immunity largely originates in the gut. We nourish them with kefir made from fresh milk from our goats. Our holistic approach to deworming includes feeding apple cider vinegar from our orchard, raw ground pumpkin seeds, chopped carrots, and coconut oil, reserving chemical dewormer for when absolutely necessary. Furthermore, we offer targeted natural supplements, such as Omega-3 fatty acids from fish oils and antioxidant-rich goji berries from our farm, to support our puppies' natural abilities while reducing unnecessary stress by minimizing toxins in our cleaning supplies and drinking water. At Best Friend Aussies, we believe dogs should keep the tails they are born with and breeding dogs should not live in cages. That’s why we don’t dock our puppies’ beautiful tails and our dogs live together in a healthy and stable pack with Rowan as their fair and gentle leader. Our dogs and puppies ( when old enough) run free during the day on our small hobby farm complete with a pond, a variety of Farm Animals (that need constant herding), Lavender and Goji Berries. We breed with the goal of undoing the harmful effects of inbreeding. Our puppies have great gentetic diversity to support strong immune systems. We have puppies available to be YOUR NEXT BEST FRIEND! We arededicated to raising the bar in intelligent breeding for Optimal Health. We don’t stop at the standard health testing. We go beyond to produce puppies with the best chance at living long healthy lives as your best friend. Strong immune systems Most good breeders these days have their breeding pairs tested to see if they are carriers for any genetic diseases they could pass on to their puppies. This is becoming a welcomed standard. But, the most common diseases affecting Australian shepherds cannot currently be genetically screened for. These include hemangiosarcoma, autoimmune hypothyroidism and Diabetes. At Best Friend Aussies we focus on breeding for puppies with strong immune systems to give them the best chances at remaining healthy. We do this by meticulously choosing our breeding pairs that produce puppies with exceptional genetic diversity. Modern science shows that high genetic diversity supports strong immune systems and longer, healthier lives.

Little Cayenne may be the runt of the litter, but is brave as a lion!

Romeo the Bengal on puppy socialization duty 🐆🐾 At Best Friend Aussies, early exposure is a huge part of our puppy-raising program. Romeo (our resident Bengal cat) helps introduce our Aussie pups to other animals and species early on — supervised, low-pressure encounters like this help build confident, well-rounded dogs who are comfortable around cats and other pets from the start. Just one part of our socialization and enrichment routine before pups go home to their families.

I had a great experience here. Didn’t get a chance to visit in person, but got a lot of updates with videos and photos to keep track of my boy. We had a FaceTime and Kristine shared a lot about the puppies for me. My boy has been loving since we met. He loves people and is good with other creatures, which make me believe he was well loved and socialized before coming to me.
