I'm Susan A., the breeder behind Bordercollieblues located in Keller, TX. We decided to start breeding to share the best possible puppies with excellent personalities, temperament, and most of all health! Our love for our dogs pushed us to begin breeding. We love to see the results of our efforts in the sweet, happy, and healthy puppies that we’re able to share with others. I am a retired nurse and all the love I poured into my patients has been poured into my dogs and puppies for the past ten plus years. All of my dogs have been tested through Optimum/Wisdom and are full panel clear.
I use Puppy Culture, ENS and a high focus on socialization to help develop on/off switches with my border collie puppies. We work on conquering initial puppy fear stages. We also work on early potty training skills.
Q. & A. with Susan
Why did you start breeding?
Oopsie litter, while going through chemo, that gave me a new passion and calling. I got some great mentors and learned from the best and combined their knowledge with my medical knowledge and compassion and love to truly produce the best puppies that I can.
What makes your program special?
Because besides knowing that that these puppies are physically healthy is only the beginning. I use puppy culture, ENS, socialization and love to help conquer those initial puppy fears and help them find a balance between rest and play which helps forms a good on/off switch. They have a basic concept of potty training down when they leave. I also start a group text with all my new owners when all pups are homed. This helps them ask questions and bounce fantastic ideas off each other as well as getting to see their puppy’s littermates grow and change. Just because a puppy leaves me my owners know that I am always there 24/7 for them. When you develop a good on off switch and match a puppy and their drive with what the new owner is seeking it is a step towards success for both the puppy and the owners. I have puppies that went into sports, found their place on working ranches, became service and ESA dogs but most importantly became well loved members of many many families.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have rough coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include tri-color, gold merle, lilac merle, slate merle, blue merle, red merle, black, blue, gold, lilac, red, saddleback sable, white and blue, white and blue merle, white and red merle, slate, and white and gold. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

A little behind on my Star Wars litter update!!!!
They are doing amazing on mash and yesterday got to go outside to their outdoor play zone for the first time and they will get to go out three times a day to eat and learn to potty in the grass. This is also exposes them to many new noises, scents and people that stop to play with them…conquering early puppy fears.
Usually the first days the pups are a bit timid but not this crew!!!!!

The Star Wars litter is 3+ weeks and have started mash and moved into their bigger play area. More toys will be added as they learn to potty more on the wee patches and not everywhere lol. That will happen within the next week, as well as, conquering the slide!!! They are already enjoying the cat tunnel and pulling the toys in there everywhere.

Hi sorry for the delay in the Star Wars litter’s two week update. Yoda decided to open his eyes later than the others lol. He has his own personal timeline. 🤣🤣.
All eyes and ears are now open and they are responding to visual and audio stimuli. The army crawl of the past week has now changed to the wobble walk. Now the fun begins 🐾💗🐾

At seven weeks today all of the Marvel litter has found their forever homes except Thor. While the others will be excited to meet their new families and leave soon …Thor enjoys his time romping with his littermates and has definitely gotten proficient in the border collie stalk. He absolutely loves tugs and empty water bottles and the crackle sound they make.

I am so pleased that we found Susan. She has repoded to me very quickly and answered all my questions about my puppy, the breed, potential issues with training. She checks in regularly on his progress, vet appointments and any issues with training we may have. My little boy Ori is perfect. He is healthy, happy and super smart. We are very attached to him and him to us. I could not have asked for a better breeder.

She’s awesome communicator. The process of getting a new puppy was made so easy for me as a first time puppy owner other than the one that I grew up with. I had lots of first time dog owner type of questions and she was very responsive and welcome all the questions. Bella arrived very healthy and curious about her new home. She was everything that I expected and more! Love every moment with her🥰

Susan was so helpful on the whole process of selecting which puppy was best for us and our family! She is fantastic at communicating with you during the weeks you’re waiting for your new puppy and even after you take your puppy home.
She’s quickly responsive with any questions or concerns with you may have. Not only is her response quick but it’s also educated and informative.
We are so happy with our puppy, Sterling. He was well socialized when we got him and was even in the early stages of potty training. Susan was so helpful with tips and tricks once we got home to help us continue his potty training journey.
I’ve already told my husband that if we were to ever get another border collie, she will be the one we go to for the next.

I was a little skeptical about going online to find a dog for our family. I reached out to Susan to inquire about our girl Jinx. She was so great to work with! Susan sent videos of the dogs along with updates. When I went to pick Jinx up, i knew exactly what to expect and what Susan was sending home to help Jinx get acquainted with her new home. She has continued to communicate with us during Jinx’s first month with us. I look forward to keeping Susan updated on our girl through the years. I’d absolutely get another dog from Susan again. It was a great experience!
