I'm Lucy K., the breeder behind Calico located in Michigan. I'm a home-based, responsible show breeder of beautiful Smooth Fox Terrier and Chesapeake Bay Retriever pups. The quality of my puppies reflects the conscious decisions I make throughout every part of the breeding process. I breed in order to preserve the wonderful attributes I found in my dogs. Because of my dedication to both the health and quality of these breeds, it's my goal to pass these traits down to future generations. I am happy to tell you more about what living with these breeds is like and how they will not only enhance your daily life, but exceed your expectations!

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
