Meet the breeder

I'm Julie K., the breeder behind Children's Choice Cavaliers located in Kenosha, WI.

Q. & A. with Julie

  • Why did you start breeding?

My parents bred Miniature Poodles and Weimaraners, and I enjoyed the process of trying to improve with each litter the qualities and health for each breed.
  • What makes your program special?

Our emphasis is to share the joy that we have experienced with our Cavaliers with other families. Cavaliers are fun, happy dogs that are both ready to play, go for a walk, and then snuggle with you. Our program believes in health-testing to provide the best chance of sound, healthy Cavalier companions for you.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include blenheim and tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

  • Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Vet Wellness Exam

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

Julie was great to work with! She was very responsive and answered any questions I had thoroughly. She was very kind to let us visit the puppies, a couple times, so we could make up our minds. It was obvious they were well cared for and loved in her home. Highly recommend!
