I'm Laura C., the breeder behind Cimarron Frontier Doodles located in Stillwater, OK. I choose breeding dogs based mostly on health and temperament. I really try to have family companions who are safe with children. My puppies are born in my home. I expand their nursery area when they are about 3 1/2 to 4 weeks old, and place shallow litter boxes in the area. I replace it with deeper ones as I expand the puppy area. I utilize Puppy Culture, doggie doors, and my grandchildren in the rearing of my puppies. I do everything I can to ensure my puppies have what they need to develop into healthy and happy dogs and I can provide extensive knowledge and guidance for any family looking to bring home one of these wonderful dogs.
Q. & A. with Laura
Why did you start breeding?
I have always been interested in dogs who were good family pets. Back in 1999, I heard about Labradoodles and contacted Kate Schoeffel of Kate’s Family Pets, in Australia, to find out more about breeding miniature Doodles. She is a veterinarian who employs artificial insemination in breeding miniatures. She gave me some insights into the various logistical aspects of breeding miniatures and the rest is history! It has been an absolute joy of a journey, and I am so happy to be able to share these wonderful dogs with other loving families and individuals.
What makes your program special?
I don’t have any dogs in kennels. I keep all my dogs in the house with me, which limits my breeding program. I have a guardian home for one of my studs, but my 3 females live with us. I started OFA testing my dogs in 2000 and started CERF certification and Genetic health testing since then. My priority is to ensure the health and well-being of all my dogs from birth until they leave with their forever family and beyond. My passion for this breed is poured into every aspect of my breeding program. I truly love my dogs and what I do.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include blenheim and ruby. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
