Meet the breeder

I'm Deborah B., the breeder behind Cottonwood Maltese located in Bennettsville, SC. We breed both partial Korean and full Korean maltese. Our maltese are bred for beauty, and through socialization starting at birth- temperament. We breed exotic colored Yorkie’s as well. We have all colors and breed our dogs to get the smaller size without sacrificing health in our Maltese Yorkies and Morkies. Our average size is 4-5 pounds. I started breeding Maltese and Yorkie’s to improve the breed and match puppy to owner. Through Good Dog we help eliminate the possibility of a scams by others.

Q. & A. with Deborah

  • Why did you start breeding?

I started with show dogs. First the shar-pei when they were just a national club. Then later showing and breeding wire haired fox terriers. I can no longer show due to a brain tumor that affected my balance. But I love my Maltese.
  • What makes your program special?

Our puppies get socialization from birth. They are handled and exposed to the things that they will encounter in a home. Through positive reinforcement our puppies are often pee pad trained when they leave our home. We believe in good nutrition and good vet care as well. We want to find the best homes for our puppies. We offer a 1 year limited guarantee.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Maltese puppies include white, white and tan, and white and lemon. Morkie puppies include tan, piebald, gold, chocolate, black, white and lemon, and white. Yorkshire Terrier puppies include chocolate, tan and white, gold, and parti. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

The entire process of getting a puppy from Deborah was much easier and faster than I thought it'd be. Within a few days of communicating with her, I had a sweet, beautiful, 14 month old female yorkie puppy in my arms, who had traveled more than 750 miles to get to her new home with me! Deb continues to provide advice and support and I am very grateful for that! My little gal, whom I named Hazel, is adjusting very well and knows she is loved! Deb really gave my Hazel the best start in life!

After a multitude of questions answered, numerous conversations, and regular updates and photos/videos, we now possess our absolutely beautiful and extremely intelligent fur baby, Bonnie! Deborah's understanding and compassion are incomparable. Our pick-up went without a hitch and we are so thankful for her husband sacrificing his valuable time to meet us halfway. ❤️

My experience was amazing! They were extremely communicative and worked with me along the way I adopted a beautiful Yorkie on August 16 he was puppy pad trained when we got home. He did his pee pee and poo poo on the puppy pads. We were amazed. He is very healthy and smart. Thank you, Deborah for allowing me to be this puppy's mommy

Our family was so excited to work with Cottonwood Maltese - Deborah and Dale were so accommodating and made it easy for us to do the pick up. I was a little hesitant at first to work online, but once we started conversing, I realized this was a really easy and beneficial way to go. We love our new baby ONYX !

Clearly Deborah puts a lot of effort, and love into the care of her pups , and it shows with our Maltese girl Lilly . It didn't happen by accident that our fur angel was well socialized early on, and healthy . Deborah answers any, and all questions and concerns with urgency and, kindness .Deborah thoroughly explains anything you need or want to know . Also I love the fact that she cares to know how pups are doing for life if I desire to share . Good dog is a fantastic site , and I would recommend good dog and Deborah to all who are loving parents to be .
