I'm NICOLE C., the breeder behind CURTIS CAVALIERS located in Conroe, TX. We are a selective breeding program that focuses on temperament and the overall well-being of our dogs. We breed to produce happy and healthy puppies that can continue to thrive in their forever homes.
Q. & A. with NICOLE
Why did you start breeding?
During the pandemic, I started working from home and had the opportunity to get into breeding Cavaliers along with my daughter. I was reluctant at first because I didn't think I was going to be able to help during labor because I have a bit of a weak stomach :) however, it is a very beautiful process to watch and help them give birth.
I have a special bond with my mommas, they trust me and know I am there to take care of them and their puppies. I have had them run up to me and put their paws on my knees as if to say come check on my babies. It's the neatest thing in the world.
You're probably wondering such as myself why would they need help however, some puppies or born breach etc. and you need to be able to put some gloves on and jump into assist them.
What makes your program special?
I believe what makes our program special is that I am able to be here with the puppies 24/7. I know some breeders that have full time jobs and try and juggle this as well and trust me when I say it's a fulltime job!
When these little babies are born, they need to be checked on every 3 hours at the bare minimum. As well momma needs round the clock meals (not just dry dog food). My females get rice / chicken / cheese homemade meals to help with the keeping up with the milk supply and her energy levels.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include blenheim and tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
