I'm Kristy J., the breeder behind Desert Sol Chinooks located in Gilbert, WA. The Chinook is a rare American breed from New England originally bred for sledding and temperament. They have been described as the "world's best-kept secret" as they are loving, gentle, great for families, moderate energy level, and are working dogs. Chinooks are everything one could want in a dog!
Q. & A. with Kristy
Why did you start breeding?
Our love for the Chinook inspired us to share this amazing breed with the world in a responsible way. We understand the very important role that breeders undertake; that today’s breeders are the guardians of the future Chinook. It is an honor to represent this breed and create opportunities for others to experience the same.
What makes your program special?
Desert Sol is committed to only breeding dogs that meet the strict guidelines for quality that we have deemed appropriate to improving this wonderful breed. We also are part of the Chinook Breed Conservation Program. The health and temperament of our puppies is our number one priority. We are very conscious about who adopts our puppies, always ensuring that they are given the best life possible.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include buff, silver fawn, gray and tan, black and tan, and tawny. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.
