Meet the breeder

I'm Cindy F., the breeder behind Dirt Road Aussie’s of Montana located in Ronan, MT. I am a small breeder of Mini Australian Shepherds. They are raised in our home with lots of love. They are well socialized with children and other dogs. All puppies have had their tails docked, dewclaws removed, wormed, and age-appropriate shots. We love these dogs and know you will love them too.

Q. & A. with Cindy

  • Why did you start breeding?

I bought my first toy Aussie, Dally, in 2012. I never intended to become a breeder, we had her fixed. Through unforeseen circumstances, we acquired Dally’s sister, Cora. I began my research to purchase a registered male. I found one that was being rehomed, Gator. I quickly found out that these dogs are like potato chips, you can’t have just one!
  • What makes your program special?

All of my dogs are genetically tested. Results are made public. I keep prices affordable. I believe everyone should be able to afford to have an Aussie in their life. I love to be able to see the smiles on the faces of a new puppy parent. In order to maintain the health and well being of our pups, we are a closed kennel. I take lots of pictures and videos to document the growth of your puppy! I will not take daily photos!
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include blue merle and red merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Gooddog made the process of getting a new puppy very easy and streamlined. Cindy was so easy to work with and kept me updated every week on our puppy. She responded fast and was knowledgeable in answering all my questions. She was very flexible and willing to work with my schedule. She supplied all the information I needed to raise my puppy as a new dog owner. The experience was great!

I really couldn't be happier than with my choice of breeders. Cindy was fabulous to work with before, during and after the sale. She went out of her way to supply me with the information I needed every step of the way. She knows her stuff and she knows her breed. I explained to her that I'd never had an Aussie, but seemed to be drawn to them as I wanted a dog with more substance than my beloved Miniature Pinschers and with a better health record than my Miniature Schnauzers. She was even accepting of the fact that the only Aussie I had ever met was a dog I actually couldn't stand because he was so I'll mannered and nippy. That dog happened to be a Merle, so I was sure I didn't want a Merle. Period! What did I do? I turned around and fell in love with a little red merle! I think Cindy was as surprised as I that I picked him. I told her his name was Merlin the Magical Merle because he had to have cast a magical spell on me! Merlin is absolutely the perfect dog for me. When I picked him up he immediately settled into my arms like he had been there every day of his life. He was an angel on the entire trip home and has shown an attitude that he takes everything in stride. That only happens when a pup has had an outstanding puppyhood home life. He is a happy go lucky well adjusted little guy. I highly recommend Dirt Road Aussies of Montana to anyone who wants a high quality, well adjusted pup. One further note, When I took him to the vet for his next vaccination, my vet was astounded at the way the paperwork had been handled. Everything was precise and clear. She was wishing that all breeders did such a great job. When she examined him he was pronounced to be an exceptional puppy, healthy with proper bone structure, excellent joints, no knee problems, clear eyes, great teeth, good ears and everything a well bred puppy should be. She asked where he had come from and took the Dirt Road Aussies of Montaha name down so she could refer any of her clients to them.
