Q. & A. with Catherine
Why did you start breeding?
Irresponsible breeding and the number of un-placed and misplaced puppies and dogs inspired me to establish a breeding program founded on knowledge, health, and well-being. Each one of our dogs has undergone genetic and health testing to ensure every puppy from every litter has optimal health and longevity.
What makes your program special?
Using the PuppyCulture Philosophy and raising every puppy in our home until each is 8-10 weeks helps ensure the best outcome for our puppies and their families. Puppies have the care and nurturing from their 'pack' as well as from their human family helping to ensure their physical and emotional needs are met.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include apricot, black, cream, white, parti, and phantom. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Good level
DoodleHaven reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Standard Poodles.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA), Sebaceous Adenitis (SA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
