Meet the breeder

I'm Nicole B., the breeder behind Double NB Livestock LLC located in Franktown, CO. Our dogs are our beloved companions. We care deeply about this breed and are proud to be responsible Australian Shepherd breeders. Matching each family with the right puppy is the key to our success and yours. We are honored to bring another member of the family into your life!

Q. & A. with Nicole

  • Why did you start breeding?

I grew up doing 4H and FFA with horses and cattle. I showed horses for many years and worked at several breeding farms and gained experience in all aspects of breeding cattle and horses from nutritional management to embryo transfer. I was a pre-vet (Equine Science and microbiology) major in college and volunteered at veterinary clinics and rescues for large and small animals. After college, I worked for a veterinarian and eventually started my own business doing laser therapy on horses and dogs. Our family also has a small ranch and breed Quarter Horses. After spending a lifetime in ranching and animal production with my Australian Shepherds beside me, it was a natural transition to utilize my veterinary and reproduction background to share the enrichment these dogs have brought to my life with other families.
  • What makes your program special?

My objective is to provide the healthiest and most emotionally adjusted puppies I can and to support their forever homes with education and support so they have a great relationship with that dog. I do this by health testing my dogs and selecting for disposition and health above all else. I also work with the puppies daily using Puppy Culture techniques and expose them to as many experiences as I can to make them accepting of new situations and prepare them for their new families.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black, red merle, and blue merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Nikki was amazing to work with, low stress and she had the puppies best interest at heart. Luna had such a strong start on her training before we even picked her up, sit, wait and most importantly focus on me. Crate training was well underway and potty training. Literally it could not have been a better start. Did I mention the gorgeous dog who acclimated into the family from the start.
