Meet the breeder

I'm Maggie N., the breeder behind Doxies in Wonderland located in Rainier, OR. We are a small, in-home breeding program where we prioritize giving each dog and puppy the best care that we can. We cherish all of our animals and enjoy sharing the love of a Dachshund with other individuals and families!

Q. & A. with Maggie

  • Why did you start breeding?

We decided we wanted to be part of building a better breed of Dachshund. We started by genetic testing all of our dogs through Embark, to find out where they stood in regards to PRA, IVDD, and Dapple. and to make sure they did not carry any genetic issues that were relevant to the breed. Our Mission is to breed healthy dogs, who are well socialized, and who have the best chance of leading long and happy lives. We do genetic testing through embark for all of our dogs, we test for PRA, IVDD, Inbreeding Coeffency, coat color, etc. We don’t breed merle dogs (dapple), and we will never breed 2 dogs that are PRA effected together, one of our goals is to breed out the PRA altogether in our pack.. While we do have some mini doxies, our goal is not to breed dogs for size, but for their best health Our dogs are fed a super premium professional dog food for healthy coats and bodies, and are vet checked for health and microchipped.
  • What makes your program special?

We are looking to offer something new to the breeder/buyer experience. We want to provide you with a all inclusive package to get you started with your new puppy. We take care of the AKC registration, Microchipping, the first month of food, a soft carrier to start kennel training. a Collar, leash, puppy training pads, doggie poop bags, toothbrush, disposable wipes, nail clippers, dog bowl, toys and a blanket with mother's and siblings scent. a Copy of the puppies Pedigree and health records.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies include miniature and standard sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include longhaired and smooth coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include piebald, cream, red, chocolate, brindle, chocolate and tan, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

We picked up our puppy Benji about 2 months ago. Maggie and her husband made it a great and easy experience. They kept us updated on and answered any questions we had on him until we picked him up. When we picked him up we could tell they take a lot of pride in what they do. They make sure all their dogs are kept healthy and well treated. They gave us all the information we could want on our new puppy. They gave us all the paperwork on him and even included a starter package for him (toys, food, etc.). Overall it was a great experience and we are glad we went to them to get our new puppy.

They were super welcoming and kind!! They gave me all the information I could need and more! I did a lot of research before picking out my dog and they are the best breeders in my area! They also didn't charge a ridiculous amount for him which I think is amazing.

I chose Doxies in Wonderland because of their health-conscious approach to the dachshund breed. They conduct a slew of genetic testing and were happy to talk through the results with me. I had such an amazing experience with Maggie and her husband. They were very communicative at every step and ensured I got the puppy of my dreams. I love my little dog! He's so sweet loving playful and very handsome.
