Meet the breeder

I'm Autumn G., the breeder behind EndThyme Acres located in Lakeland, FL.

Q. & A. with Autumn

  • Why did you start breeding?

Renni is the reason I fell in love with Shiba Inus. She’s been the most loyal dog and helps me work on my farm. When I did some research on the breed, I seen how it wasn’t widely known about them. Shiba Inus take dedication, & have really changed the way I view having a dog. They are incredibly smart dogs and I’ve really enjoyed raising and helping to improve the breed.
  • What makes your program special?

These babies are born in my home, grow with my family, and grow the courage to go out into this big world we live in! With this breed still being so, I like to call them “native” we really encourage exposure to other dogs, cats, and all of the other animals out here on the farm. I have a lot of nieces and nephews of all ages that live out here on the farm too.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include cream, red, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Breeder-Reported Testing

Great level

EndThyme Acres reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Shiba Inu.

  • Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Vet Wellness Exam

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
