Meet the breeder

I'm Suellen A., the breeder behind Eska Creek Chesapeakes located in Eureka, KS. My priority is to ensure the healthy and well-being of all my dogs from birth until they leave with their new families and beyond. I breed healthy, beautiful puppies. Parents are always Health Tested. I take the responsibility seriously, knowing that my puppies will become someone's well-loved companion. I make sure pups are socialized, healthy, and ready to excel in their forever homes. My dogs are bred for those specifics and I take pride in my breeding program.

Q. & A. with Suellen

  • Why did you start breeding?

It's a passion of mine to help inform people about the breed. I absolutely love this breed, and am so excited to share their unique personalities and traits with other dog people. I was privileged to be chosen by my breeder/mentor to receive one of her exceptional dogs. She surpassed my biggest expectations and has produced her own exceptional pups.
  • What makes your program special?

I do everything I can to ensure my puppies have what they need to develop into healthy and happy dogs. I also love to stay in touch with buyers after my puppies have gone to their forever homes, so you are always welcome to contact me with questions or cute pictures! In my breeding program, I follow the health testing requirements of the Chesapeake Bay Retriever parent club( amchessieclub.org) to ensure the good health of the dogs and the breed moving forward. The temperament and trainability of these working dogs are essential, and you must commit to keeping them challenged and busy. However, cuteness is guaranteed, and loyalty and love is always included.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include light brown, dark brown, and brown. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Unfortunately, I was not able to go with my son to pick up the puppies. However, my uncle was very impressed with the breeders. He said you could tell how much they loved them.
