Q. & A. with Lynette

  • Why did you start breeding?

We try to raise dogs that can excel in whatever their owners decide to do with them, whether for fun or competition. Our dogs have been proven to excel at herding, flyball, agility, disc, dock diving, fast cat, obedience, rally, therapy dog, service dog, and hunting. We breed our dogs to be very versatile, thriving in working, performance, therapy, and pet homes.
  • What makes your program special?

First Harmony Farms is located in Tiskilwa, IL. We breed Border Collies, Miniature American Shepherds, and English Setters. First Harmony Farms was started in 1992 and is owned by Lynette and Stuart VandeVenter. Since then, we have added four children to our pack here. The kids also help with the raising and training of the dogs and puppies.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our Border Collie puppies include smooth and rough coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Border Collie puppies include atypical merle, tri-color, blue merle, red merle, black, red, sable, sable merle, saddleback sable, and seal. Miniature American Shepherd puppies include red tri-color, black tri, red merle, and blue merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

Getting a puppy from Lynette

Lynette has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Lynette partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.

“Puppy picking begins around 7 weeks old. Only dogs staying in our breeding program and stud picks will be picked before the deposit list. Puppies that are reserved for co-owns and breeders will be labeled as such. Then the deposit list will pick in the order we receive their deposits. On average, we will only take 5 deposits per planned litter. This does vary based on litter size expected. We may get more or less puppies than planned in a litter so the wait does vary a great deal. We do not refund deposits but they do roll over to the next litter for up to 2 years. We allow a visit to meet the puppies between 5-7 weeks before picking. We also make sure there are plenty of adults for people to meet and play with. These are usually at our house or at our training facility. We schedule these through our facebook page, text, or phone calls. ”

Price

Puppy prices include a $600 non-refundable deposit and between $1,000 - $1,900 final payment, before taxes & fees.
