I'm Shelby S., the breeder behind Fleur de Renard Beaucerons located in Amelia, OH. It is very important to us that all puppies are given the best chance to be happy, confident dogs as they grow! This starts with thoughtful breeding plans and continues to care and handling in the whelping box. All of our puppies are raised on Puppy Culture protocol with tools such as ENS and ESI.
Q. & A. with Shelby
Why did you start breeding?
My passion for breeding sprung from my passion for sharing well bred dogs with others! Doing the best I can as a breeder gives me the opportunity to share something that brings me joy in hopes of having them experience that joy too.
What makes your program special?
My program places heavy emphasis on temperament and health. Prioritizing these aspects means producing dogs that can excel in any venue! If its weekends in the show ring, laps around the farm, trying out some sports, or just being an all around good pet then these dogs will be ready to have fun by your side.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include harlequin and black and rust. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Fleur de Renard Beaucerons reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Beaucerons.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
