I'm Lauren B., the breeder behind Franhaven Kennel located in Fair Haven, NJ. We work closely with stud owners and are selective with respect to conformation, physical well being, and temperament. Our goal is to attempt to bring their natural qualities to perfection in accordance with the Breed Standard. All of our dogs are registered with the AKC and CKCSC.

Why did you start breeding?
I worked closely with the breeder of our first cavalier to learn how best to become a breeder myself. She advised me on health testing, choosing a stud based on optimal health of the puppies, and the process of mating and caring for a pregnant dog. I had the help of another breeder who accompanied me during the births as to ensure the best outcome for mother and babies.What makes your program special?
My family and I love caring for the puppies and contributing to their development and growth so that they may be the best family pets. Our dogs receive daily walks and are fed the best quality food and treats. Puppies are cared for, loved and socialized with our children and other friends and family. We expose the puppies to different kinds of enrichment and training before they go home.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include blenheim, ruby, tri-color, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

"Puppies are registered with the AKC and CKCSC. They receive deworming, vaccines and a visit to our vet prior to going home. Puppies are well socialized and familiar with crate and potty training. Deposit is taken when you have chosen your puppy."

Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
