I'm Jane H., the breeder behind Ganderwood English Labradors located in Lowell, MI. We breed and train quality English Labradors from generations of health-tested parents for temperament and health. Ganderwood's puppies are trained to the AKC Canine Good Citizenship level prior to coming home after 5 months old. Pups are crate trained, housebroken, heel on leash and off leash, etc.

Why did you start breeding?
We initially got into breeding without much knowledge. After taking a puppy class, we learned about clearances. This was very important to me as I lost my childhood dog to an early death due to severe hip dysplasia. We then took an obedience class with a top AKC Competitor who is still our 4-H leader and friend. We learned to study pedigrees closely and to breed carefully with clearances in mind.What makes your program special?
All of our puppies go home after 5 months old having passed their AKC Canine Good Citizenship evaluation, so they have at least 150 hours of training. Humans touch them daily with lots of focus on socialization with various people, sights, sounds, and surfaces for a lifetime of adaptability as a take-everywhere pup. Several of our pups have gone on for therapy or service work.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Jane has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

"Housebroken, crate trained, heel on/off leash, sit/stay, down/stay, stay on place for 2 hours, crate, doggy door trained, 'off', 'leave it', 'paws up', 'quiet', socialization, vaccinations. Puppies go home trained to AKC Canine Good Citizenship level plus other training with a 24 month hip guarantee. A $500 deposit holds puppy once family is approved via a conversation."

Jane may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
D Locus (Dilute) DNA test, PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
