I'm Marcia C., the breeder behind Happy Tails Kennel located in Oroville, CA. I am a retired sensory processing teacher. After retiring, I missed working with children. I transitioned to raising puppies. I use the same calming and centered tools on the puppies that I used for children. This creates calm, loving family dogs.
Q. & A. with Marcia
Why did you start breeding?
My husband has PTSD so we looked for a comfort pet for him. We found cavaliers and fell in love. Now I want to help others with PTSD discover their forever friend.
What makes your program special?
As a sensory processing expert, I provide the tools to get these pups to the top of the pack. They receive sensory massages throughout the day. We practice desensitizing creating calm personalities. Our goal is to create pups that are so special, they will become a member of your family.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include blenheim, ruby, and tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Did you know…
The Queen's Kiss 🐶
Description: It's a chestnut or black spot, often diamond-shaped, in the middle of a parti-colored Cavalier's forehead, typically on a Blenheim (chestnut and white) or Tri-color (black, white, and tan) Cavalier.
Origin of the term: This charming name derives from a legend associated with Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough. While awaiting news of her husband's return from the Battle of Blenheim, she anxiously pressed her thumb to the head of a pregnant spaniel. Later, a litter of five puppies were born, each bearing a thumbprint-like mark on their forehead.
Significance: The "Queen's Kiss" or "Blenheim spot" is a desirable marking and can even increase the value of a Cavalier puppy.
In summary, the "Queen's Kiss" on a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a distinctive and cherished marking, rooted in a historical anecdote and adding to the breed's unique charm.
Little Velvet has been kissed by the Queen 🐶❤️

It was a pleasure to work with Marcia. She was quick to respond, provided plenty of updates, and was willing to meet in the middle for pickup. Velvet has been a great dog so far, and you can tell that Marcia handled the puppies a lot — no issues touching paws, brushing teeth, crating, etc. Also, Embark results back up healthy Cavs. We would’ve taken another one home if we could — so cute. 🐶 🧡
