Meet the breeder

I'm Jessica M., the breeder behind Haven Flat Coated Retrievers located in Arlington, TX. Flat coats are my life! I have owned & shown flat coats for 25+ years. I breed selectively and strive for excellence in both temperament & structure. My dogs are beloved companions and I endeavor to keep my dogs active in the field. I am a small-time who only breeds a limited number of litters.

Q. & A. with Jessica

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have been passionate about preserving my wonderful breed for many years, and have spent those years accumulating knowledge and skills from many other reputable breeders and mentors, as well as honing my vision. My love for this breed is always at the forefront. I am very lucky to have been trusted with the dog who became my foundation stud, and his daughter my foundation female.
  • What makes your program special?

The dogs, of course. Although my first flat coats were beloved, I waited many years until the right dog came along on which to found my program. I breed selectively - I keep a limited number of females, and they are bred 1-2 times in their life, if they are bred at all. with litters produced on average less than once a year.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
