Meet the breeder

I'm Kelly W., the breeder behind Heaven Sent Aussies located in Jaroso, CO. Our focus is to produce the best dogs of the highest quality so that other families can also enjoy the love of a Mini Aussie. These dogs have proven to be wonderful companions in our lives. It is a privilege to be able to share that love and friendship with others through responsible breeding.

Q. & A. with Kelly

  • Why did you start breeding?

I raised and trained Australian Cattle Dogs before getting married and raising a family. Now that my family is grown and gone from home I began thinking of how I wanted to spend my time. I am an avid hiker and after researching different breeds I settled on Australian Shepherds because of their athleticism and devotion to the humans in their lives.
  • What makes your program special?

I live in an area where my dogs get lots of exercise (in the form of hiking) and have plenty of fresh air and sunshine in which to thrive. The result? All of my dogs are robustly healthy and happy.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Australian Shepherd puppies include black & white, red & white, black, red merle, blue merle, red, dilute red, dilute blue, black tri-color, and red tri-color. Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies include red & white, black & white, blue merle, black tri, red tri, red merle, red, and black. Toy Australian Shepherd puppies include red & white, black & white, black tri, blue merle, red merle, and red tri. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

I reached out to Kelly to share with her our reason for wanting a new member to our family. We currently have a 15 yr old Mini Aussie, Bodie, and our son, 7 yrs old, is quite attached to him. We know that sadly, in time, our dear Bodie will no longer be with us so we knew we needed another special dog to help us with the inevitable grieving but to also, hopefully, provide fresh energy and vitality to Bodie and extend our time with him. We also love dogs and have been wanting to add another to our family for some time. Our son asked God and Santa for a puppy for Christmas so I found Heaven Sent and thought, that seems like a sign! I found Aiden’s profile and instantly fell in love and knew he was meant for our family. I connected with Kelly and to my surprise he was still available! At the time he was nearly 3 mos old and I couldn’t understand how no one had adopted him yet. He’s gorgeous! We decided to surprise our son with Aiden and drive from Southern CA to Kelly’s ranch in Colorado. We brought Bodie with us and kept our secret as we drove along parts of the Old 66, through the Southern rim of the Grand Canyon, through the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert, learning history via pictographs, shopping in Santa Fe and passing through Taos to CO. I told our son that Kelly was an old friend of mine and we were going to visit her, unbeknownst to him, he was about to meet his new best friend! When we arrived at Kelly’s family ranch we were greeted instantly by the beautiful and elegant Emma, an Aussie who has taken on the role of nanny and teacher to the younger pups. She has the most amazing calm and caring disposition! Kelly also came out to greet us and she has the most beautiful heart, full of care, love and kindness for her pups and was very welcoming to our family. A visit to the historic 4 generation ranch with original home was an extra treat! Kelly introduced a very shy Aiden to our son. He instantly fell in love and confessed later that he secretly wanted to take him home. After meeting Aiden we asked what he thought of the pup, our son said he was amazing. We told him “great, because he’s yours! That’s your pup now. He’s your Christmas present. God and Santa have answered your prayer!” Our son was in absolute shock, all he could do was smile in disbelief. Kelly then went through all of the paper work. She is very organized and thorough. She provided everything we could possibly need to understand Aiden’s current vax schedule, info on his parents, medical info including meds to avoid, etc. She was very well prepared and we could tell that she is very serious about the care and breeding of her pups. After the paperwork we went to the kennels to meet Aiden’s parents and so many more beautiful and energetic Aussie’s; the kind of happy energy that only Aussie’s have, if you are familiar! While talking with Kelly I shared with her that I believe Aiden was meant for our family and that is why he never got adopted. She believed the same. God had a plan for this special pup! Upon our departure Kelly provided us with food, toys, all of his paperwork, a blanket with familiar smells and more. She thought of everything! Even a home baked oatmeal cookie! They were delicious! I can’t even begin to describe our first night with Aiden away from the ranch. We were worried that he would miss Kelly and Emma and wouldn’t want to bond with us, but we were wrong. As soon as we opened his crate door in the hotel room, he ran out and greeted us all, even Bodie! He was so happy and excited, like he knew “this is my new family”! He instantly bonded with our son and it is so amazing to witness. During the long drive home with several stops and hotels, Aiden was calm, responsive and thoughtful as he interacted with us. He is very smart and learns quickly. Once home, he reminded us that he is a puppy and wanted to chew on everything, but with careful redirecting to his toys, he’s showing great promise! We are also teaching our son and Aiden proper leash/walking methods. Both are working hard to learn correctly for each other. We also get plenty of play at the park in the morning which helps to keep Aiden calm for the rest of the day. Bodie is enjoying it as well! Having Aiden join our family has been a true blessing and I cannot thank Kelly enough for her professionalism, care, thoroughness and seriousness when it comes to breeding. But most of all, I want to thank Kelly for her love and compassion for such an amazing breed. When the time comes for our dear Bodie to depart, I have a feeling we will be reaching out to Kelly again for a companion for Aiden. We send Kelly updates and pictures and she responds every time. She is not a puppy mill and truly cares about the families and pups. If you want a breeder you can trust and rely on, you must choose Kelly! If you feel you have a place in your heart for a new member to your family and are looking for an energetic, intelligent, faithful and loving pup, please choose Heaven Sent!

Our interactions with Kelly were genuinely wonderful, characterized by exceptional transparency, a deep passion for the breed, and a commitment to the well-being of Lady. The experience highlighted all the qualities of a reputable and ethical breeder, making us feel confident and excited about bringing a new dog into our home. Kelly provided full veterinary records, including information on vaccinations from her vet. Lady had all the health clearances for the flight to New Jersey. Kelly has been contacting us on a regular basis on how Lady is doing in our home. We would highly recommend Kelly from Heaven Sent Aussies. Jean and Leon von Fintel from New Jersey.

How we found heaven sent Aussies is a whole special story of its own but once we did find them and we excitedly reached out, Kelly offered to let us come see the puppies when they were little potatoes to get a feel for which one was meant for us. The farm was incredible and beautiful and all of the dogs looked so happy and healthy. It was immediately clear Kelly’s work was an art and a love. We visited one other time as the puppies were getting a bit older before coming for a third time to pick up our little dude. We discussed temperament, aesthetics beyond coat color, and genealogy. Wyatt/Ogee is my dream dog. He’s almost 11 weeks old and by far the smartest dog I’ve ever had and now a famous little dude in my neighborhood because he’s so darn cute and cool. Everyone wants to say hi to Ogee when we’re out and about. He’s getting big fast and he’s sweet like his mama Reba and cool like his papa Fuego. So blessed to have found Heaven Sent Aussies and to get such a cool little dude as my buddy for the next 15 years.

We are beyond grateful to have found Kelly and Heaven Sent Aussies! From the very beginning, she showed genuine care, knowledge, and love for her dogs. Our boy Noctis has been everything we could have dreamed of and more—healthy, happy, confident, and full of personality. It’s clear that the way he was raised during those first precious weeks set him up for success. He came to us already well-socialized, curious, and with the sweetest temperament. People constantly stop us to compliment how beautiful, intelligent, and well-mannered he is. What stood out most in our journey was the breeder’s dedication. She was always transparent, answered all our questions with patience, and kept us updated with photos as Noctis grew. It made the entire experience so special and reassuring. Because of Kelly, we don’t just have a wonderful puppy, we have a lifelong companion who has brought endless joy into our lives. If you’re looking for a breeder who raises not only incredible dogs but also supports their families every step of the way, look no further. We could not recommend her more highly.

Kelly was fantastic to work with We had been wanting to add another Mini Aussie to our family as our current Aussie girl, Scout, was nearing 10 years old. We fell in love with one of Kelly's pups online. I submitted an inquiry on him and Kelly got right back to me. She was able to provide a lot of information on both him and his parents and their specific personalities. I really wanted to make sure we got an outgoing pup since some can be more reserved than others. She was certain he'd be right for us and our older Aussie and she was right! We named him Cisco and he has been an absoulte dream puppy - the easiest we've ever had in our lives. Very smart, very sweet and outgoing with people. Of course, he does have a lot of energy -he's an Aussie after all! He has been great in his crate, potty training and traveling with us. he is curious about new places and not fearful. We've had a lot of fun with him and are starting puppy training classes in a few weeks. Thank you so much Kelly. Our whole family adores him, including Scout!
