I'm DeDe J., the breeder behind High Desert Dachshunds located in Price, UT. I am a dog lover. Once I got my first Miniature Dachshund, I couldn't stop! They are like potato chips; you can't have just one! As the saying goes, "I was normal until I got my first Dachshund." After that...well...we just don't talk about it : ).

Why did you start breeding?
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, when I was in my late teens and early twenties, I began dabbling in breeding. My breeding endeavor began with Golden Retrievers. I bred them and Labrador Retrievers for many years. However, once I treated myself to my Bucket List dog...a Miniature Dachshund...I was captivated. Unfortunately (wink, wink), there's no turning back now.What makes your program special?
Our pups are born in our home. They are handled from birth and are exposed to multiple sounds and smells. They are well-socialized with people, other dogs, and cats. Before leaving our home, they are dewormed several times, receive a 5-way puppy vaccination, a Bordetella vaccination, and a 9-way puppy vaccination. They leave our home for yours with a clean bill of health from the vet.What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable, piebald, cream, red, black and tan, black and cream, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

“Prices range from $1500 to $2300, depending on color and whether the pup goes with limited or full registration. The deposit is nonrefundable and goes towards the total purchase price of the puppy.”

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
