I'm Maureen A., the breeder behind Hillsdale Shibas located in Nampa, ID. We have adored the Shiba Inu since 1995! Preservation of the Japanese qualities and puppies with sound minds are our focus. Our dogs are bred for temperament and structure. We have added new import bloodlines over the years to preserve the Shiba with the qualities the Japanese qualities in priority.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    Refer to www.shibainus.net I breed correct Japanese original Shibas. Note:A new Aw dark sesame gene entered the breed 10 years ago originating from a breeder in Japan who also has Shikoku. I have documents if you are interested in learning more. I do very rarely have the original Ay sesame Shiba. The new Aw gene has recently become Very dominant in the USA/Europe. Black below eyes and down legs

  • What makes your program special?

    We do not breed long-coat Shibas and do not have the long-coat gene in our bloodlines (some call it ‘Wooly in the USA - in Japan they are long-coats). The Long hair defeats the purpose of the Shiba. Shibas are maintenance free hunting dogs who think independently and can survive in the wild. The matted long coat would = extinction. Some breeders include the long coat gene to win at dog shows.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include cream, red, black and tan, and sesame. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Maureen

Maureen has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and $2,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

"AKC registration, microchip, 1st vaccinations, deworming, health guarantee. If you are interested in a breeding quality Shiba Inu the price is higher. I would also consider providing stud service. A deposit is required to reserve. The deposit is refundable only if we do not have the color, sex, or timeframe available for the litter of your choice. Otherwise the deposit is not refunded."

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
