I'm Jessica K., the breeder behind InTune Border Collies located in St. Louis, MO. We strive to breed confident, intelligent, versatile Border Collies that can and will do it all! Our goal is to produce Border Collies of sound mind and body with the talent and drive to excel in all sports paired with potential for herding and even service/therapy work.
Q. & A. with Jessica
Why did you start breeding?
Our foundation stud, Ronan, opened our eyes to the incredible versatility of the Border Collie. I wanted to try out dog sports but I also was looking for a psych service prospect. It was kismet when I discovered Ronan‘s breeder. Originally breeding was the last of my concerns for him, but his drive, talent for sports, herding potential, and service work prove him as a top example of the breed.
What makes your program special?
Our main goal is versatility-dogs that can go anywhere and do anything. Sound body AND sound mind. Dogs that are handler focused yet friendly to strangers of all ages and tolerant of all animals. Puppies will be raised with Puppy Culture, properly vaccinated/de-wormed, vetted, taken on safe outings, & more! Breeding adults‘ are trained R+, fed fresh diets, and participate in anything they love!
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Ronan
Ronan FDC CGC TKA is a versatile, high-drive dog. He is a natural at psychiatric service work, excels-despite his novice handler-as an multi-sport athlete (agility, disc, dock diving, Fast Cat), and shows promise for herding. He is a sociable boy, enjoying the company of humans of all ages; with dogs he is a true ladies man but is also tolerant of most males that have appropriate manners and communication. InTune Border Collies reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Border Collies.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Canine Good Citizen (CGC)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Wisdom Panel, DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
