Meet the breeder

I'm Mara C., the breeder behind Lake Crystal Farms Labradors located in North Chesterfield, VA. We’re so excited to be able to help families experience the longtime loyalty of welcoming a new puppy into their lives! We are dedicated to always providing our buyers and our puppies with a positive experience, which includes remaining committed to responsible practices when it comes to breeding, training, and rehoming our puppies. Q. & A. with Mara

  • Why did you start breeding?

Labradors are sweet faced and lovable friendly and high spirited companions. I feel in love with my sweet Ginger the moment that I met her and I decided to share her special characteristics and breed her. She has perfect health clearances and an outstanding personality. She is playful and has so much love to give. I just wanted to share her and pass on her wonderful traits through her beautiful healthy puppies.
  • What makes your program special?

My breeding program is special because I raise my litter in my home and incorporate the puppies and socialize them with my family life. It is a very personal approach! I breed for excellence , so I make sure to match my sweet Ginger to a great Sire. Bo is exceptional and he has champion bloodlines. Ginger has the kindest sweetest personality. I am so excited to see these puppies! I enjoy so much to watch them grow and placing them into loving, wonderful homes.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

We had such a wonderful experience working with Mara. From the very beginning, her communication was excellent. Anytime I messaged her before we met, she always responded within 12 hours and took the time to answer every single question we had. She genuinely cares about her dogs and her puppies, and it really shows. I also loved that she has other dogs as well. It made it clear this is a true home environment, not just a business. Mara was incredibly flexible with pickup options, which meant so much to us. My husband and I both have demanding jobs, and we have a two year old, so scheduling can be tough. She went out of her way to make it work and never made us feel rushed or stressed. She was also very transparent about everything, from fees to care instructions. She made sure we fully understood the vaccination timeline and what our puppy would need at each stage. She truly guided us every step of the way and made the entire process feel comfortable. It never felt like a transaction. It felt like she was carefully placing a puppy into a loving home, which meant a lot to us. We have had our puppy for two months now, and he has been such an amazing addition to our family. We already had a dog, and the transition has been wonderful. They are best friends, and our two year old son is completely obsessed with the new puppy. We could not be happier with our experience and cannot recommend Mara enough.

We had a wonderful experience with Lake Crystal Farms Labradors. Mara provided constant photos and updates about the puppies and was always available for our questions. Our sweet girl Rosie Pickles has been an amazing addition to our family! She is sweet and playful and so gentle with my two young kids who adore her. She has been easy to train and we get stopped all the time by people who say she’s so beautiful— we agree! Thank you, Mara!
