Good level

Liberty's Legacy Cavaliers reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

  • Hip Dysplasia

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Full Embark Panel, Episodic Falling Syndrome (EFS), Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Muscular Dystrophy (CKCS-MD), Dry Eye Curly Coat Syndrome (CKSID), DNA Disease Panel

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

Pam was such a delight to work with! She truly loves her Cavalier puppies and goes above and beyond to socialize them before selling. I have a very healthy, happy, well adjusted, eager to please little girl! I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a Cavalier puppy!!

Pam was so easy and flexible to work with. The process went very smoothly. Pam’s dedication to raising her puppies is evident! Our puppy did well from the start with us. He’s well socialized and did fantastic meeting our grandchildren. He’s cuddly and playful. Great personality which is the result of the care and attention he received from Pam. Most amazing is how quickly he’s caught on to going outside on a lead (we live in an apartment building)! We couldn’t be more pleased with our puppy and selecting Pam as our breeder.

I just want to start off by saying Pam is a wonderful caring breeder! She actually cares about her puppies and where they go in regards to owners. They are just like children to her and her family! Pam was very responsive and did a wonderful job vetting us as a family. Like it or not this is what you should expect from a responsible breeder. She made sure we were aware of everything about our puppy along with the mother and father. I would recommend Pam to any responsible family who is looking to add a fur baby to their family! She is a very responsible breeder and cares about her fur babies!

We are so grateful to have found Pam and Liberty's Legacy Cavaliers. Our new puppy, Ganache (renamed Sir James "Jimmy" Howlett) is a beautiful, happy puppy. He is transitioning so nicely into our little pack, which is a true testament to the love and care he received from Pam and her family during his first few months. Cavaliers are an amazing breed and I will definitely contact Pam first the next time we are looking for a new fur baby.

Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
