Q. & A. with Marki
Why did you start breeding?
There’s nothing like puppy breath and puppy kisses, right? When I first adopted my first Cavalier, I had him shipped to NY from Ohio. I could not find a breeder locally. As I learned about the breed, and watched my sister develop her breeding program (different breed), I thought - I’d really like to try this. I think I’d be good at it! And so began my aspirations of breeding Cavs in retirement.
What makes your program special?
I think what sets our program apart is our decision to invite families into our home, on a weekly basis, to develop a relationship with their chosen puppy. They get to know the Momma of the litter, and they get to experience the atmosphere in which our puppies are raised. An unintended benefit of this has been the opportunity to develop relationships with the buyers. We’ve made so many friends!
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include blenheim and ruby. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
