Meet the breeder

I'm Burk H., the breeder behind Montra Japanese Chin & Cavalier King Charles Spaniels located in Little Rock, AR. I am a small hobby breeder of AKC Registered and AKC Champion Japanese Chin & Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. I am a former professional dog handler. My breeding program has incorporated several notable lines, which create healthy, happy, well-rounded pets. I breed with equal attention to breed type (how the dog looks/appears), health, and temperament.

Q. & A. with Burk

  • Why did you start breeding?

After showing multiple top-ranked dogs, I picked Japanese Chin & Cavaliers as my own personal breeds. I showed several dogs to #1 rankings in 2013, 2014, and 2016. I have incorporated a few specific lines into my own breeding line, with a focus on health, temperament, and breed type (integrity).
  • What makes your program special?

My dogs live in my home with me and are handled from a young age. They are raised around children and have special and purposeful socialization so that they come to you as the best version of themselves. I health test all dams before breeding and seek out healthy, stable stud dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Japanese Chin puppies include lemon and white, red and white, sable and white, and black and white. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies include blenheim and tri-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

We had a wonderful experience working with Burk. He sent regular updates along with photos. Burk is very knowledgeable about the breed and has been a wonderful resource since we first connected on Good Dog. He made sure we were matched with the perfect puppy for our family dynamic! His puppies are all very well socialized and comfortable with grooming. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Ella just celebrated her first birthday. She is healthy, happy, and has the best personality. I highly recommend Burk to anyone looking for a well bred Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

From the start, it was clear Burk really cares about his dogs. He was always quick to respond answering all my questions. The whole process from start to finish was very straightforward, from getting in touch to sorting out the pick-up and payment. I’m so glad I found Burk, I can’t imagine life without Hero! She is playful and curious, always making me laugh with her antics. Having Hero around just makes every day better. Thanks again Burk!

Everything about this breeder was top-notch. Communications were quick and informative. We actually bought 2 Japanese Chin puppies from this breeder (different litters). The puppies are super healthy, very active, love chasing each other around and wrestling for the chew toys. Both puppies are very inquisitive, playful and have wonderful personalities. They love meeting new people and have become my shadow and following me everywhere. Both puppies are so cute and love to be held, even by the grandkids. Both puppies have settled into their new home here in the NH mountains and are actually doing great with indoor potty training already. We are so pleased and thankful that we found this breeder, the joy and laughter these two dogs have brought into our lives is wonderful.
