I can’t believe how quickly the time is flying — the puppies are officially two weeks old already, and we’ve reached some really sweet milestones this week. Most excitingly, eyes are beginning to open! Right now they’re still a little sleepy and cloudy, but over the next several days they’ll open more fully as their vision slowly develops. Along with that, they’re becoming more aware of their surroundings and each other. Their ears are starting to open as well. We’re also seeing: Strong, steady weight gain Puppies starting to scoot and push up a bit more on their legs Tiny personalities beginning to peek through Lots of content nursing and cozy cuddle piles At this age, their world still revolves around mom, warmth, milk, and sleep, but this is the stage where changes start happening quickly. Over the next week or so, they’ll become more alert and responsive. As always, mom is doing a wonderful job caring for them, and they’re thriving. Thank you for sharing in the excitement — these early weeks are quiet but truly magical. We are continuing with ENS and ESi and well as gentle handling. More updates (and photos!) coming soon.

Social support is huge for puppies, they get a lot of security and ques from their littermantes and other dogs. This is the reason we do individual temperament assessments - one puppy at a time, in the new place, with a new person.

Mia in this video, and her brother Ford are super cuddlers like their mom Brandy

All puppies went to see a behaviorist for temperament assessment so we can start matching them to their permanent homes. We finished the day with a fun play time so their remember this place and experience as a fun one!

About Claire
Claire is Daughter of Brandy and GrandChampion Link. She has earned her UKC Champion title in just two show weekends, including poodle specialty 😮👏. We also dipped our toes into AKC this spring with great success ⭐️. While she is undeniably beautiful on the outside ✨, her temperament is what truly sets her apart 🥰. Claire is very much like her mother, Brandy—minus the mischief 😉. She is eager to train 🧠, deeply people-oriented 🤍, wonderful with all critters 🐾, and has a lovely off switch 🛋️💤.

We had an excellent experience from start to finish with Lexa. I could tell by her profile and website how much she cared about her dogs and we were really impressed by all the health and temperament testing she did on all of her puppies. We are absolutely thrilled with our Raven girl. She is so smart, sweet, playful, athletic, she’s an absolute perfect Poodle girl and we instantly fell in love with her when we met her. Couldn’t be happier with the whole experience and so grateful that Lexa chose us to give a great home to one of her awesome puppies.

I found Lexa and Moonrise Poodles on Gooddog while searching for either a miniature or a Moyen poodle. We had a very good conversation where she told me about her poodles and I told her about my experience with dogs. She suggested Lola to me as I was looking for a female puppy. She felt Lola would be a good match for me temperamentally. As I was out of state, we had an extended FaceTime session to talk about Moonrise Poodles and see Lola before placing a deposit and signing a purchase contract through Gooddog. We drove to South Carolina and met Lexa and baby Lola at Starbucks. Lola was an adorable bundle of fluff. She handled the trip home in my lap with aplomb. Lexa provided a number of different what to expect emails for things such as immunizations, where you can take your puppy, training, dog food, pet insurance, travel and grooming. I felt we were well supported. We got settled in at home with the puppy enclosure in the family room as well as a crate for naps and bedtime in our bedroom. I put the crate on a hassock right next to our bed so Lola could see us and not be lonely. That worked out very well and she is the first puppy I have had that did not cry in the crate at bedtime. House training has gone pretty well. At seven months, she’s pretty well got things down. We still don’t leave her unsupervised except when she’s in her enclosure or her crate. She is a great companion dog. She definitely wants to be with her people. It’s just been within the last month or so that she’s become a little more vocal and will bark if she feels her territory is being invaded. She’s doing well on the leash and we go for long walks in the morning before it gets too hot Lola is in good health. She has regular vet visits. She did have an issue with retaining some of her baby teeth after her adult teeth grew in and our Vet has dealt with that She has gone to the groomer a number of times and is currently sporting a poodle style haircut. Her hair is starting to curl more as she’s beginning to get her adult coat. This is my first poodle I have had cairn terriers, a sweet natured pup from the Humane Society, a pug prior to this. A few things that have been a surprise to me so far. Poodles, even small ones can achieve some impressive vertical leaps. I am super glad that I went with the pup enclosure. Lexa recommended because Lola can hop over your basic baby gate with ease and frankly, thought nothing of zooming up a flight of stairs. My previous dogs were not jumpers. Another thing as a non-poodle owner, I was not prepared for was the necessity of plucking ear hairs on occasion. Neither Lola nor I like that. Last is that Lola can be a picky eater. Again, my previous dogs did not prepare me for that. The above was a lot of minutia. In short, I am very happy with my decision to get Lola and to work with Lexa.

We couldn’t be happier with our experience with Lexa and Moonrise Poodles. From the very beginning, it was clear that her breeding program is truly top-notch. The care, knowledge, and dedication she puts into her dogs are exceptional. The thorough health testing she does gave us such peace of mind, knowing we were bringing home healthy, well-bred puppies from a responsible breeder — not a puppy mill. Our girls, Norie and Nova, are thriving and so happy. Their personalities are completely different, which makes life fun and full of surprises! They fit perfectly into our home and have brought so much love and laughter to our family. Even when they’re being sneaky little girls, we honestly can’t imagine life without them. Lexa truly loves her dogs and takes immense pride in her program, and it shows in every way. We’re endlessly grateful to her for our two amazing girls and couldn’t recommend Moonrise Poodles more highly!

Lexa was easy to work with during this entire process. She was more than willing to accommodate me as I was traveling out-of-state to visit family.
