Q. & A. with Melissa R.

  • Why did you start breeding?

Breeding runs in my family—I was raised in my mother’s Miniature Dachshund program and fell in love with the breed from day one. Continuing her legacy brings me joy as I raise, train, and match our puppies with families who become part of our extended Dachshund family.
  • What makes your program special?

When you choose MRS Long Dog Ranch, you’re not just buying a puppy — you’re joining a community that values health, honesty, and heart. We’re proud to raise companions that bring years of joy, laughter, and unconditional love to their families.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include smooth and longhaired coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Melissa was great to work with. I found her through Good Dog and we arranged a meet and greet with her puppies. The process with Good Dog was safe and easy; I would definitely recommend them if you’re looking for a pup. We couldn’t have been happier with the experience or with our new little addition to our family!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review for Melissa & Mrs. Long Dog Ranch Working with Melissa was such a wonderful experience! She communicated back and forth with me for about a month, answering all my questions and keeping me updated every step of the way. She made everything so easy, from setting up a payment plan to arranging delivery out of state. I honestly didn’t expect to receive a whole box full of surprises: toys, blankets, food, dishes, and training items, she truly thought of everything! Our sweet puppy Stitches (or “Steve,” as my nephew calls him 😂) is the most well-mannered, loving little guy. He’s fit right in and is adored by our whole family. Thank you so much, Melissa and Mrs. Long Dog Ranch, for trusting us with this beautiful fur baby and giving him such a great start in life🐾❤️

I had a great experience with Melissa and am very happy with working with her and also with my very sweet puppy, Hazel. Melissa took a lot of care in making sure Hazel and I were a good match including a FaceTime visit as well as asking questions about my wants in a puppy. After I decided on Hazel, Melissa provided weekly updates and pictures to keep me informed about the puppy's progress. We arranged for me to pick up Hazel and Melissa worked with my schedule as we were on an RV road trip. Pickup went very smooth and Melissa proved a full "puppy kit" of absolutely everything we needed. And now for the most important part: Baby Hazel. She is everything we had hoped and it is evident that she was socialized with people and other dogs. She uses the little puppy pad tray for her potty needs and is fine with our other dog, who weighs 60 pounds. Hazel loves her little bed and we are starting crate training, which is going well. She is eating well and responding to treats. She is just a really nice little puppy. MRS Long Dog Ranch definitely delivered on what we wanted and Melissa was very nice to work with
