I'm Daviann M., the breeder behind Nighthawk Rottweilers & Cavalier King Charles Spaniels located in Santa Clarita, CA. Our dogs are bred for type, temperament, and structure. We have produced over 85 Champions and several Top 10 Conformation and Working dogs. We not only strive to be successful with our dogs in the conformation ring but to be equally successful in the working arena.
Q. & A. with Daviann
Why did you start breeding?
In 1982, I purchased my first Rottweiler. A few years later I purchased Hawk, who later became the basis for the kennel name “Nighthawk Rottweilers.” I then purchased my two foundation bitches. With these two bitches and Hawk, I have been able to go on and produce what has eventually become one of the top producing conformation and working Rottweiler breeding programs.
In 2007, I purchased my first Cavalier and through Betsy, I have bred a few litters producing numerous specialty winning champions and agility competitors.
What makes your program special?
I believe that while a dog may not have any disqualifying fault and has a hip number, this alone does not mean that it is breeding quality. We breed the total dog, which is type, temperament, and structure. I feel that we should not only strive to be successful with our dogs in the conformation ring, but to be equally successful with our dogs in the working arena. We are strict Code of Ethics breeders.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
